Nutrition

Healthy living has been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember, but it is easier said than done. I have never really followed through with what the Nutritionists and websites tell me, which makes it seem like I have been through every diet and exercise phase around. This year I went through my biggest nutrition phase and it led me to the secret: don't change your eating habits at all! You may be thinking, "how am I supposed to get fit and lose weight without changing anything?" Well, here are the two most effective methods in my experience that help with weight loss and prepare you for that summer body:

1. My favorite and most helpful tip is to write down everything you eat. Whether you are writing it down on an app on your phone or just in a notebook, it helps you see how much you are actually eating. I personally suggest getting an app on your phone if you are able to because it shows you how many calories you eat a day and the nutrition facts. I use the iPhone app Lose It! to log what I eat and how much I exercise everyday.

2. My second piece of advice is to get up and get active. I used to use "I don't have enough time" as my main excuse, until one day I realized that even doing 30 Jumping Jacks in my room counts as working out, and everyone has time for 30 Jumping Jacks. The most important thing is not how long you workout for or how heavy your weights are as long as you are getting up and getting active. In the summer I like to walk around outside whenever I can and I try going swimming everyday. In the winter I go to the gym at least 3-4 times a week to work on my cardio but if I don't have enough time I stay at home and try working on my strength. I don't have fancy workout equipment and you don't need it. I use dumbbells to tone my arms but otherwise I am laying on the floor or pushing against a wall.
